Sechs Schülerinnen und Schüler des Ferdinand-Sauerbruch-Gymnasiums Großröhrsdorf gaben beim Regionalwettbewerb „Jugend debattiert“ ihr Bestes.
„Das Format Jugend debattiert hat mir neue Perspektiven eröffnet: Im Unterricht wie in der Diskussion mit anderen kann ich jetzt meine Position überzeugender vertreten.“ meint Luis Wenkel. Der 16-jährige Schüler überzeugte am 1. März 2024 im Romain-Rolland-Gymnasium Dresden sowohl in beiden Qualifikationsrunden als auch im Finale beim Wettbwerb des Regionalverbundes Dresden-Land in der Altersklasse II.
Beim Regionalwettbewerb trafen die besten Debattantinnen und Debattanten der sechs teilnehmenden Schulen aus dem Verbund aufeinander. Im Wettbewerb der Klassen 8 bis 10 schlugen sich unsere drei Vertreter, die erstmals an einem Wettbewerb teilnahmen, sehr beachtlich. Nele Sommer aus der 8. Klasse fehlten am Ende nur winzige drei Punkte zum Einzug ins Finale!
Aus den Jahrgangsstufen 10 bis 12 setzte sich Luis Wenkel nach den zwei Qualifikationsrunde als Sieger durch und erreichte somit das Finale am Nachmittag. Die Finaldebatte zur Thematik „Soll jeder Mensch in Deutschland zum 18. Geburtstag ein Grunderbe erhalten?“ meisterte Luis als einziger männlicher Vertreter in souveräner und unterhaltsamer Art. Etwas überrascht war dann jedoch die Mehrzahl der Zuschauer bei der Verkündung der Jury. Luis belegte in der Endabrechnung den dritten Platz. Er nahm es sportlich, sein Ziel, den Einzug ins Finale, hatte er erreicht und damit war Luis Wenkel sichtlich zufrieden.
Im Debattier-Klub unserer Schule werden die Schülerinnen und Schüler auf den Wettbewerb vorbereitet: Sie lernen, ein Thema umfassend zu recherchieren und tragfähige Argumente zu identifizieren. In den Debatten verbessern sie ihre Ausdrucks- und Gesprächsfähigkeit und stärken ihre Sachkenntnis und Überzeugungskraft. Im Wettbewerb gilt es dann, die neu erworbenen Kompetenzen in einem fairen Schlagabtausch zu erproben.
„Jugend debattiert ist ein hervorragendes Programm, durch das junge Menschen die demokratische Debatte erleben und so ein tieferes Verständnis einer fairen, öffentlichen Auseinandersetzung gewinnen. Es ist schön zu sehen, wie Schülerinnen und Schüler durch Jugend debattiert Selbstbewusstsein gewinnen.“, so Tina Kleefeld, Koordinatorin für den Regionalverbund Dresden-Land.
